Bradley The Venue It feels like you have stepped back in time to a bygone era from the moment you arrive. It almost has the feel of visiting a museum as you discover exotic animal skins, rarified butterfly collections in display cases, and mysterious taxidermy animals mounted on walls. There are no replicas here as it is a veritable feast of vintage antiques that where collected by the previous Taiwanese owner from Asia, Europe and Africa. The concept of D.B. Bradley was inspired from the life of Dan Beach Bradley who was a missionary who settled in Thailand. The food served is based on an eclectic European and Asian theme of cross cultural gourmet delicacies prepared by Chef Prajak Chotchueng and his talented team. You will find Thai specialties as well as international favorites such as soups, salads, pastas, seafood and steak. The Cuisine Start your meal off with a signature cocktail such as the Eugenia Cocktail made from vodka, cranberry, red wine, Cointreau, lime juice, blue berry syrup and Sprite. It is sour and sweet and very easy to drink. For a starter I recommend the Pan Seared Alaskan Deep Sea Scallops w/ Cauliflower Wasabi Mousseline & Lentils. It may seem like an odd combination, but the textural elements on the plate are very cohesive with the addition of the crispy green salad. The lentil is a nice contrast to the creamy cauliflower mash and the flavors work well with the sweet scallop. Pair it with a glass of Las Moras Pinot Grigio, 2011 from Argentina and you have a "hit" on your hands. For the main course you may want to try the Roasted Australian Rack of Lamb w/ Seasonal Vegetables & Olive Sauce. While the vegetables on this dish are perhaps a bit of an afterthought and do not really bring much to the table, the lamb is well seasoned and the sauce is thoroughly enjoyable especially when paired with a glass of J Bouchon Merlot Reserva, 2011 from the Maule Valley in Chile. For dessert you don't want to miss the Amaretto Cheesecake. Not only is it a generous portion that is large enough to share between two people, but it is a rich and creamy delight with a yummy crust on the bottom and a tart berry sauce. Verdict The Eugenia has long been a favorite city escape for local celebrities, discerning travelers and longtime Bangkok residents. D.B.
